bio oil on nipples before breastfeeding

Does anyone put bio oil or moisturising cream etc on their nipples?
Apparently on the bio oil website it says you shouldn't put bio oil on your nipples if you are BF in case baby ingests it by mistake, but what about if you are pregnant and aren't BF yet, is it ok?

Well I suppose it is ok, but not sure it will make any difference to your nipples in case you were hoping to prepare them for BFing!

I have to confess I put it on my nipples (doesn't say not to on the box, at least I don't think so) and it has made them very soft, even velvety!

But then I didn't exactly have hard nipples beforehand anyway...

Guess I don't need to worry about the baby swallowing any oil as my baby isn't expected to arrive for a few months yet!

If you're pregnant and not yet breastfeeding, it's fine! After all, your body will absorb all sorts of other things during your pregnancy, unless you're living in a yurt halfway up a mountainside and washing in pure spring water! Wink

But you don't need to moisturise or otherwise 'prepare' your nipples for bf anyway. They are doing that by themselves! The little bumps round the edge of your aerola (base of nipple) are sebaceous glands and moisurise the nipple very well. You don't need to do anything else. Smile
