not quite a proper bump - what to wear?

i'm 18 weeks pregnant and my bump is still at that ambiguous 'could be pregnant, but probably just eaten too many pies' stage. I've bought a few lovely maternity pieces from Isabella Oliver but i'm not quite big enough for them yet. dug out my stuff from first pregnancy and hardly any of it looks any good now Sad it's only four years old but that pregnancy started in winter, with DS born end of July; whereas this pregnancy started in spring and baby due in january. So nothing is the right size+season. meanwhile almost all my non pregnancy trousers, skirts and dresses are too tight, though tops are ok. what were you wearing at this stage, particularly to work?

Get a bump band and a belly belt - the belt extends your ordinary skirts/trousers at the waistband and the band covers up the unfastened bits. A quick internet search will bring them up really quickly - I bought mine at Natural Baby Shower. I'm now 19 weeks and looks like I'll be able to continue wearing my regular stuff for a while. (even though an obvious bump has popped out in the last week).

Hope this helps

I am living in leggings. I was wearing jeans with a hair band through so I didn't have to do them up but found it uncomfortable. Atm, I am still in my normal clothes but I had a lot or long tops to wear with leggings anyway and they are serving me well. Anything with an empire line is good.

Maxi dresses are your friend! I've spent several weeks in maxi dresses, but my bump is now big enough (at 27 weeks) for me to be pretty sure that people will conclude I'm pregnant and not just a bit fatter than usual. Will still wear the maxi dresses, though, because they make me feel a bit glam. :)

Hi Sotough - I'm 18 weeks too, so snap!

Looked everywhere for maternity trousers that fit at this stage and have currently given up. Am reduced to wearing one skirt to work every day. It has a side zip so can be worn mostly undone with a long top without looking bad. Tried trousers with hair band to hold shut and it was uncomfortable and looked horrible!

Have ordered a belly band of the internet, looking forward to seeing if it helps!

I've bought a pair of Gap black trousers for work, and their jeans... I've found them really good as the elastic waist band fits at the moment but will hopefully expand!

I also agree with FourEyesGood - maxis are your friend!

I second the belly belt.it comes with a whole bunch of gubbens that I never used such as material to go behind so you didn't flash your knickers. But it made it look like i was wearing my OHs underpants and was flashing those instead. But that's where the bump band comes in instead . Also, I never used the big belt because by that point I had admitted defeat and was in maternity clothes (which I am looking forward to having a ceremonial burning off in a few weeks time because I am that sick of them)
