Hi am 34+3 weeks and since yesterday I have been experiencing occasional lower back and tummy pain like period cramps, I keep gettin a tightening feeling and my bump keeps going solid not for longer than a few minutes but quite regulary, and now today I have noticed (sorry tmi) I have more discharge then normal and its quite watery. I also just have a feeling that something is going to happen, are the cramps normal at this time? Im really scared im going to go into early labour. Sorry first pregnancy might be over reacting a little, can you possibly put my mind at ease.

If it were me, I'd call my midwife. They could check you out - better safe than sorry and it would set my mind at rest.

It could be braxton hicks your practice contractions for labour, that would explain the tightenings. I wouldnt worry to much about the discahrge unless it is a brown/red colour.

I would be inclined to call a midwife as it is so easy to panic in you first pregnancy.

Good luck

I'm sure it's fine, but call the midwife. I called them at a slightly later stage of my pregnancy because ds wasn't moving around much. I expected them to say "don't be ridiculous, you're wasting our time" but actually they said "it's probably completely fine [it was] but come in anyway so we can monitor you" - right then and there!

Its always worth getting anything you are worried about checked out. They will have heard it all before and I'm sure they can reassure you.

As the others have said, probably fine, but call your midwife for reassurance :)

I am 36 weeks and been getting similar for a few weeks - kind of like mild period pain cramps at the bottom of my bump. 2nd pregnancy and don't remember getting this with DD.

My gut instinct was that it was nothing to worry about, as there was no real "start" and "stop" to the pain (unlike contractions), and I wouldn't even call it pain, just mild discomfort. I figured it was just the uterus "practising" and getting ready! But DH was worried so I called the m/w the next day.

She was happy with it, said if the cramps got painful, stronger or had any regularity, to call labour suite, but otherwise it was fine. Esp as this is my 2nd pregnancy, the uterus is a bit more stretched and has to work harder to hold everything up!

DH was convinced I got it because I was overdoing it, but it can come on anytime - the other day after half an hour of sitting on the sofa watching Postman Pat! Grin
