I feel terrible today, i am 38+6 and for 3 weeks i have had horrible bouts of upset tummy and colicky pains. Also i have had period like pains and twinges, i am not sleeping well due to carpral tunnel and my HG is kicking in again (i think).

I have mentioned this to midwife on last 2 visits and was told its normal. (midwife has never acknowledged that i have HG or Carpral Tunnel, my GP has dealt with all this - with HG i was told by MW it was a bug)

Both times i have mentioned these symptoms to midwife i have been literally ignored, i'm not sure what i want her to say - but maybe an explaination as to why i'm feeling so lousy.

I think ive just answered my own question... I am being a wuss....

anyone else fancy a moan??

:-D

Hello storm not seen you on here for a while! Poor u!

I would go to GP for the upset tummy if it's been going on for weeks.

At least the HG is going to be gone for good (or until next pg!!) very very soon.

Re period pains - phone labour ward if you think they might be contractions.

My main moan for the moment is that I am simply KNACKERED. And very hormonal.

Hi Jacks

I've been lurking!

Think the upset tummy is just my ibs making a reappearance but maybe i will see GP

Are contractions like period pains then? ive mentioned them to midwife and she wasnt concerned....

How long do you have to go now? Is the HG still bad for you?

Yes, contractions = like bad period pains but regular, getting stronger and not going away. If yours are mild and/or just occasional that might be why MW unconcerned.

Still occasional nausea but no vomitting now for ages fingers crossed!

Have ELCS booked for 6th Oct, 7 weeks to go hurray!

storminabuttercup · 17/08/2010 15:29

they are kinda like constant and getting worse but not regular and been going on a few weeks.

Fingers crossed no more sickness for you!!!!

7 weeks wow, must be strange to know the exact date your baby will be here !

good luck!!

Had severe abdominal pains last week (am 34 weeks) and labour ward told me to come in. Possible causes were contractions, urinary tract infection, vaginal infection - apparently infections can irritate the uterus and cause it to hurt. I'd recommend giving the ward a call - they can rule out contractions with a bit of monitoring and a quickly processed vaginal swab (nothing horrid - it's fine!) and do swabs for infection and send your wee off to the lab. In my case pains went away and everything came back negative so they concluded it was a major episode of muscle and ligament stretching. And indeed I am now bigger.
Good luck! And your MW sounds crap.

thanks cardamomginger, i did go on the labour ward a few weeks ago and there was nothing doing - wont hurt to call again though.

My midwife is terrible, shes my second midwife and doesnt listen to a word i say shes always too busy chatting with the student who's with her for appointments.

Will have a bath see if pains ease then phone labor ward if not - why are the midwifes there so blumming different to mine - they are nice and listen :-D

Glad to hear that everything was ok with yourself, must be scary so early x

Thanks! This is DC1 so it's all new to me. The really scary part of it was when I discovered that all the relaxation and breathing stuff I've been practicing like mad did sod all to help with the pain - it still just hurt like hell Grin! Sobering.....
Probably worth giving them another call - I was told that even though everything checked out OK this time, to call them if it happened again. Your MW sounds truly rubbish. Thank God the ones in the hospital are better!! XX

Same here DC1.

know what u mean about the pains - worried how ill cope - sure we'll be fine

good luck
