the yellow is normal and you can start leaking quite early in the pregnancy.

Breast pads tend to be useful around now.

Freeasabird58 · 17/08/2010 10:14

Not sure if i worded that correctly, I started leaking from about 26 weeks ish just bits, not its when they feel under pressure, just got our shower, and at ngiht mostly. i am originally a small 34b, now a 36c/d...

Yah I wear breast pads, using the tommee tippee disposeable ones. but i find they make the milk still stay on you...? are washable pads better?

I used the boots own brand disposibles and found them good and properly absorbant.

cinnamongreyhound · 17/08/2010 11:40

I leaked at night from 20 weeks with first and about 30weeks this time. The yellow is normal that's the colour of colostrum. Once you start porducing milk properly you make a lot more at night so its normal to leak more at night, you will find when you get up in the morning your boobs will be very full. The first night my DS slept through I was in agony!

I had a lot of milk with DS, when my milk came in I sat in the bath with milk pouring out of me and the midwife said if there were still such a think as wet nurses I'd be perfect for it but I really don't know if the two are related.

I never tried washable pads but of all the disposable ones I found tommee tippee were the best and have already stocked up this time around.

poppy283 · 17/08/2010 14:38

My left (.) has leaked pretty prolifically since about 18 weeks, I'm now 39 weeks and righty still hasn't caught up, according to midwife it's completely normal and has no bearing on milk production once the baby is born. The first time it came out yellow was a bit of a shock though!

clareanna · 17/08/2010 18:12

hi - try not to worry it's just the start of your boobs going a bit crazy! mine also leaked from around 26 weeks with my first, and then it took quite a while to get my milk supply under control after DS was born - they liked to leak a lot - particularly when supermarket shopping!!!
You might want to try a few different brands of pads as depending on your boob shape some can be a better protection than others.
If you're only leaking a bit while you're pg you can get away with cheapy pads, but when your milk comes in you need better protection - I found tommy tippee the best.
hope this post hasn't freaked you out too much - breast feeding (if it works for you) is fab and you'll soon get used to the pads - however I know it's not very glamourous to begin with!

poppy283 · 18/08/2010 08:24

Just got some own brand pads from tesco, they are smaller than the others i've used and don't stick out of the side of my bra so best for when you're only leaking a bit!

Freeasabird58 · 18/08/2010 09:09

Yeah it was a shock for me too when it came out yellow! because when anything yellow comes out of your body you automatically think - infection. but as its normal and just showing that e (.)(.) are working properly is fab.

Still nervy about breast-feeding when baby is here. but hopefully i'll be fine. I dont mind wearing the breast pads, i just find it uncomfortable wearing them at night all the time so I prefer to us wear of of DP baggy t-shirts,even if i do leak! (.)(.) need to be able to breathe too! lol

It's a toss up between waking up all horrid and crusty or sleeping in a bra! I've been putting a towel under the sheet to save the mattress which is ok but means the sheets need changing more often, and the towel gets bunched up and uncomfortable. Perhaps someone can invent a solution - some kind of boob-cork?!

Freeasabird58 · 18/08/2010 10:54

Haha definitely,

I find sleeping/nursing crop tops comfy, but sometimes I just need to let them breathe lol

Boob-cork does sound handy though!

Has nyone got stretch marks on their (.)(.)??
I have started to get a few tiny ones.... currently 31 weeks... (previously freeasabird)

will they fade?

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/08/2010 16:02

God knows, haven't been pregnant for years, but RISPECK for the brilliant thread title

ethelina · 18/08/2010 16:16

I havent had leaky (.)s, wasnt even aware of the possibility. Only this week (37/40) has it been possible for me to squeeze a tiny drop or two out. And thats only cause i saw someone mention it on some other thread. (not that i'm spending my life squeezing my tits, mind)

cinnamongreyhound · 19/08/2010 09:49

I have a lot of old ones Dozeyland as I have lost and gained weight several times in my life but my (.)(.) haven't really grown in pregnancy to get any fresh ones. They have faded to silvery lines but are still slightly visible.
