Affects of a Fibroid

I have been told that I have a fibroid, at my first scan they didn't seem too bothered as it is not in the way of the baby. However when I saw the midwife she made me totally paranoid as it can cause problems from having early labour to a C Section.
Does anyone have any info about this or has anyone gone through the same worry??? This is my first pregnancy.

nparkin just had my first scan last week and they also found a fibroid. This is my third pregnancy and never had one before!! Same consensus with me, "don't worry, if its bigger at 20 weeks, more in the way we'll have another think"!!! Also posted in antenatal thread and pregancy thread and was reassured that not that much to worry about. So for once am taking everyones good advice!!

I was also told this at my scan today - I was seeing a senior consultant (for other reasons) and he couldn't have been less concerned about it if he tried. He commented on it in the same way you might someones interesting bracelet.

Mine is on my ovary so I am assuming that it wont really interfere even if it does grow.

fibroids can grow a lot during pregnancy, that*s why they take a look at it during the scans. also when they are too big they could block the exit. you also might have a bit more bleeding after birth. I have a few and 2 dc without problems.

Thanks!! I guess its just wait and see if the thing grows or gets in the way, not much we can do about :)
