Moses basket mattress size!

Hi,

We have been given a moses basket and have bought a new mattress for it. Unfortunately we bought the mattress before picking up the moses basket, and the person who kindly gave it to us had given us the wrong measurements!
The mattress we need is 71cm x 35cm, the closest I can find is 71cm x 33cm, is that close enough or does it have to be an exact match?

As I understand it the advice about cot mattresses not having too big a gap is to do with preventing baby's head/hands/feet getting stuck between mattress and cot bars - not an isssue with a 1cm gap each side in a moses basket.

I think once you have the bedsheets on it'll look an insignificant gap, tbh. But why don't you buy the mattress then try it with the packaging on but add all the sheets, etc and see for yourself?
