I am currently 38+4 and concerned as the baby seems to be disengaging rather than becoming engaged! For the past few weeks the baby has been 2/5 palpable and I have been able the feel where the baby is in my bump - pretty much straight up and down ready to go! However this week at my midwife appointment she said he was "free" and he has moved to a different part of my bump. He feels much more horizontal? than he did before! Does this sound normal? Does anyone have any experience of this sort of thing?

Thanks!

First or second (or more) baby? They can bob about. I am on number three and he is having a great time in there - in, out, in out, doing the hokey cokey Grin

Perhaps he is getting himself into a better position - he might have gone down a bit wonky the first time or something. I wouldnt worry too much at this stage. Neither of mine were engaged when I went into labour. Smile

hi peppa! It's my first baby and I think I am probably getting a bit paranoid! Thank you for your reply and I hope you're right!
