I think it's an old wives tale.

I was monitored a lot through pregnancy and the hb rate was different all the time so i doubt it means anything.

When I was pregnant with my son, his heartbeat was always above 140 bpm which was quite fast for a boy and the MW suggested that he was a girl.

With this second pregnancy, the heart beat is greater and has ranged from 145-156 bpm and the 20 week scan indicated a girl.

Not sure if this actually helps or not Hmm

there's no medical evidence to support it - but the old wives tale suggests that a faster heart rate is a boy.

Thanks ladies - Just wondered, but think that most midwives can tell sex with heart rate when your in labour not before - apparently!!
