Hi

Anyone like me been bemused by a female that you work with making snippy comments about you being pregnant.

Doesnt really bother me as she's bizarre with most people to be honest.

I think she's jealous but given I've been signed off with hyperemesis and have lost a lot of weight and look grim, wouldnt think it was cricket to be bitchy and jealous about things. Weird!

hiya, yea you get a lot of these, there just jealous and skitty and tbh pathetik, they have got nothing better to do than be bitchy and you just have to ignore them and not let them get to you.
im gonna get alot of people like that saying things about me, as i have just found out im pregnant with my 2nd child and i have only just turned 20, i think alot of people stereotype young mums with 2 children to be scrubbers and other things, but i have been with my boyfriend for years hes my 1st ever partner. so way i look at it is if people have a problem its there problem not mine.
hope you get better soon :) and let the comments go over your head, if you listen to people like that it just gets you down

Oh yes... There's somebody like that in my office. At one point i was actually shocked by her stupid comments. Ive heard them all: "ugly mummy"; "you wont be slim for long ahahah"; "isnt she massive?" but then one day I took revenge and told her: "stop being jealous of my figure!" I also said that she looks more pregnant than me! It felt good:) Since then the stupid comments have stopped ahahaha!

well this one's weird....she is a right piece to everyone. But with my pregnancy she's jealous.

Weird behaviour such as bitchy comment to me while rubbing her own tum - mentalist! Smile

Hi LunaticFringe

I'm not a psychologist but the fact shes really cheeky with everyone, suggests shes just a mentalist.

Hello All

Lia your comments made me laugh out loud!

id like to work with you!!

tbh my pregnancy has had the reverse effect to yours as im only young (20) and pregnant with my first so i work with a lot of young people (chocolate shop) so theyre mostly uni students and whatnot

but when i told a close friend of mine i was pregnant she was so made up and its made her want one now!! :O she then confided that she hasnt been taking pill but hasnt told OH, and she often does pregnancy tests and actually feels a little disappointed by the negative result!!

I never planned this but having a baby isnt easy!!

also to beckie90 your probably worth a million more than all those gossips. youve obviously proved your a good mum and capable enough to have another child, that in my book is amazing.

good luck :)

SkiHorseWonAWean · 12/08/2010 04:39

Katie - I am horrified by your friend! ShockAngry

The rest of you making snippy comments about her being a mentalist could use a large dose of compassion. Infertility worries can make even the sweetest sanest woman say silly things as a defence mechanism.

AbiAbi · 12/08/2010 06:30

Sad well let's hope none of you ever feel jealous of someone elses pregnancy eh?

I think a dose of compassion and the ability to think of others, and their situations, before judging them might do some of you some good.

Ps. Mentalists? Nice.

I'm jealous of people's pregnancies at the moment, particularly my sil's because I've lost two this year. But sil will never know this because I'm nothing but supportive towards her and am very happy for them.

I don't think it excuses bad behaviour.

Beegey · 12/08/2010 08:26

No, I agree, it doesn't excuse bad behaviour but it could explain it. People react differently to stuff, don't they.

You never really know what someone else has been through and it can be heartbreaking to watch someone lses blossoming pregnancy every day if you have suffered fertility issues/losses.

So try not to be upset or offended, just enjoy your lovely bump a bit more discreetly around those whom you suspect are less than supportive.

TrillianAstra · 12/08/2010 08:31

She might not be jealous, she might just not like you, and pregnancy is an easy thing to use to be nasty about. If you had your hair dyed she might make comments on that.

EggsandBacon · 12/08/2010 10:34

Pregnancy can be such an emotional topic I think people can react in really weird ways!! After I had miscarriages I found it hard to know how to behave with pregnant friends/colleagues. I really tried to imagine what a normal happy response should be, I probably overdid it asking lots of questions about how they were feeling and so forth, they probably thought I was crazy - just hope it didn't sound like I was jealous!!

(Of course, I was INTENSELY jealous! Actually bordered on a feeling of hatred at some points.)

Now I'm having what is turning out to be a successful (so far!) pregnancy, and a lady in work is being a bit of a cow about it, but I'm pretty sure she's been trying for about 5yrs now so it's probably pretty hard to hide the hurt. After 5yrs of that shit, she can say what she likes as far as I'm concerned, I'm sure I'd be ten times worse if it was the other way round.

Anyway, my point is, you might get people being a bitch because they are a bitch, or they might be a bitch because they are really hurting - it's just such an emotional topic!!

Emsyboo · 12/08/2010 13:05

I used to be jealous of other people's pregnancy but just was happy for them and tried to be as supportive as I could. Now I am pregnant I have been lucky to have people just be happy for me probably because they know I've wanted children for a long time!

Anyone who tries to bring you down is not worth your time think about the joy you have and look after yourself.

You won't know there motives just avoid them from your life if possible and keep the thought that they are jealous and in a few months you will have a beautiful bundle of joy!
