Hiya don't think it is..... I'm pretty sure that's what's in Tiramisu(sp) isn't it and i'm not allowed that...

It's fine to eat when you're pregnant ... have a look here for a list of the cheeses you can and can't have.

suzywong · 26/08/2005 11:08

yes that's ok but if it is tiramisu don't put any raw eggwhites in it as you find in some recipes

Can i gatecrash (or threadcrash) to ask a cheese related question? I had no idea that feta cheese should be avoided for risk of listeria, I ate a plate full a couple of months ago but felt fine and all is well. Would i know about it by now if there had been any risk/problem?

That link I posted says that feta is OK, if it was bought within the UK - presumably UK feta is pasteurised.

sweetkitty · 26/08/2005 12:33

yes both feta and mascapone cheeses are ok in pregnancy I love mascapone cheese, it's especially safe as it's pasteurised, then reheated to an even higher temperature then hot filled into it's container so no risk of Listeria (until it's reopened then if used within a couple of days it's fine).

I could never find any mascarpone recipes while pg that didn't involve egg yolks as well, annoyingly.

that cheese link is so useful - thankyou. I can now go and get some Borsin
