Red rash under bump

Hi - looking for some advice please?

I have a red rash under my bump (21 weeks) -
it is not itchy but burning hot and quite angry-looking. Can anyone recommend anything safe to use until I see my midwife tomorrow?

Many thanks in advance.

Not got any advice but I always seem to get a red rash-like band across my bump that goes over my belly button. Have been trying to ignore it but will be interested to see what your midwife says it is.

Hi PickleSarnie - I dont know if it is a sweat rash as it is on the fold IYKWIM or I might not be drying under there properly after shower/bath.

Hope someone comes along with some advice

Hi

I had the same thing... 99.9% sure it was from the gel they used when getting my ultrasound scans.

It went away, I make sure I rinse it off straight away now.

Mine's a bit higher up that "on the fold" but belly so perhaps it's something different? But perhaps it's something to do with heat like you say? katzen, I seem to be getting it all the time - might just be the band of my trousers irrating them. Perhaps will spend rest of pregnancy naked?!

That makes sense Katzen fortunately, the skin isnt broken - that would be a nightmare!!

Camomile lotion can help and I've been perscribed piriton (an anti-histamine tablet)when I was 36 weeks. To get you through the night I'd suggest a warm bath and either a hot water bottle or an ice pack, either should distract you from the itching long enough for you to get to sleep.

Good luck

Thanks GracieScotland I had forgotten about that. My DH just went and spoke to the pharmacist at the chemist and they have gave me low dose Canestan. Just had a quick bath there and applied it - it has cooled down now and feels much better.

Thanks everyone x
