Got the most awful stitch like pain in my left hand side been to the docs its not a water infection or kidney pain, it kind of subsides when I sit down but as soon as start walking its really painful. Doc is sending me for physio but until then how can I relieve it?

Thanks in advance x

sounds like "rib flare"- very common in pregnancy as everything starts to stretch and your ligaments are getting a wee bit looser (non technical terminology Wink)

I had this with DC2 & DC3 from around 24 weeks right up until birth, saw physio with DC2 and just showed me some exercises such as stretching my arms up high above my head to relieve the pain- for me sitting at my desk at work was the worst.

BUT, and this is a big BUT- upper abdominal pain can be an indicator of pre-eclampsia. How far along are you? Keep a close eye on any other pre-eclampsia symptoms (see: PE symptoms

Good luck hope the pain eases soon x

Thanks jumpingjellyfish I am 23 weeks on sat so will mention it to the midwife as I am seeing her tomorrow. It doesnt feel as high up as my ribs but I might be wrong it kind of goes from my stomach to quite low down but always on my left hand side x

I had some pain similar to this and was told it was ligaments - but as JumpingJellyfish says it's always wise to get any weird pain checked out in case of anything more serious.

If it feels like sticch, I had this with DS2 and it was round ligament pain. It stopped me in my tracks one day when I was walking, but subsided when I stopped or sat down. It was on the lower part of my bump. I was quite scared by it the first time it happened and rang the MW. Its quite common I think. Stil, def worth getting checked out tomorrow.
