Nuchal Scan - Aren't they cutting it a bit fine?

I've been given my date for a scan when I will be 13+ 2 and I know the cut-off is 13+6. I asked for an appointment the week before but the midwife was very dismissive and just said it'll be fine. I'm just worried I will have to wait until 16 weeks if they've missed the window and it makes any difficult decisions even harder. What if my dates are slightly off, its only a few days for god sake how can they take it as gospel and give me such a tight window.

Has anyone else had a similare experience - any advice?

If you haven't already had a scan or know exactly when you ovulated/conceived, it may be borderline. I'm not sure what difference a day or two would make though - or what else you can do if they don't have a free slot before then.

I had my nuchal scan and bloods done when I was 13+4, although I had these dates from a dating scan carried out at 10+4, rather than the dates that I'd calculated myself. All was fine. They should be able to confirm dates as part of the scan then too, shouldn't they? They did with mine.

If they haven't got a free slot until then, I wouldn't worry unless you think that your dates are actually wildly inaccurate. The dates I had guessed for myself were only 2 days out - I'd put myself a couple of days ahead of where I actually was.

You could always pay for a private scan if the outcome is very important to you. If you are too late for nuchal you can still have 2nd trimester bloods done. Amnios are only normally done at around 16 weeks anyway so if you had an increased risk result you would probably still have a wait to find out more as most places wont want to do a CVS after 11/12 weeks (although again, you could get done privately).

I had my dating/nuchal scan and blood tests when I was 13+2 weeks. I think I had it a bit later because I had an early one at 10 weeks, then it was the Whitsun holiday in the week I was due to have the scan. I don't think it matters too much.
