Hospital rescanning today as I'm too big for my dates, anybody know anything?

I am 25+6 and measuring well above the expected line. I went to antenatal yest and she initially said don't worry about the measurement I just need to feel around and she said the baby feels normal size but although the heart beat is gd she had to really push to hear it. From this she wants me rescanned as she suspects possibly I have too much amniotic fluid. I've read a few things on the internet and I know it could be a number of things but non of them good. It surely couldn't be twins as they'd have seen at the scans and heard on the monitor and i'm feeling well so I am sure if I was diabetic I'd be tired, and have symptoms. I am a bit worried and I'm hoping the liqour is normal (it was at 20 wk scan) and that this is a false alarm but does anyone know what would happen if there is too much? What will that mean? Hope someone can help. Thanks for reading. :)

Mine was high at 32 week scan so diagnosed as polyhydroaminos but had another scan at 36 weeks to check fluid levels, size of baby and position and was totally normal again. As far as I know they wouldn't do anything at the moment just monitor your levels.

I do know someone who had high levels and she had to go into hospital on her due date and wait to go into labour as there is a higher risk of cord prolapse and they didn't want her to go into labour at home.

Sorry can't give you anymore info but they weren't overly worried when mine was high at 32 weeks so hopefully it will just be a formality for you.

I was diagnosed with polyhydraminos at 26 weeks too.I was screened for gestational diabetes which was negative and still negative when tested later.
I had extra scans checking for anomalies (particularly cleft lip and palette which the ultrasound specialist said could be a reason)but they were all clear.
I had a normal birth at term plus three. I was enormous but it was satisfying that after a week I was back to pre pregnancy size because it was water not fat I was carrying.
Dd was later diagnosed with autism and polyhydraminos can be a marker for neurolgical disabilities so maybe that was the reason in my case.

I was scanned for a larger baby all the way through my last pg and was told over and over that it was all water. Even the consultant agreed that 'he was prbably a 6lb-er'.
Only at the last scan did the sonographer say that she reckoned the baby was huge and gave us measurements, but as scans are not apparently accurate for this she was poo - poo'd.

I Knew it was a huge baby - I could feel him in me.

I was induced at 41 weeks and they broke my waters, expecting a deluge to enguf the room - nope.

Same consultant pulled baby out at cs - 10lb 9oz. She got a shock!!

three little ducks my sister was repeatedly scanned because they were concerned her baby was small for dates.The day before dn's birth at 38 weeks she was told he was measuring under 5lb. He was born en route to the hospital less than 24 hours later weighing 9lb 14oz. My sister had no bump and was wearing her normal size 12 jeans.

Hi all, Thanks so much for your comments I had the scan and it showed my level of amniotic fluid to be normal as was everything else. Extremely releived it was nothing to worry about. I do have a very large tummy and it prob looks bigger because I'm still size 10 everywhere else. The midwife said she was sorry to worry me for nothing but i'm very glad she did we got to see our little one again and my mind is at rest that all is well.
