not to buy stuff so early in your pregnancy.

Im only 9+3 but i want to buy so so much!!

And the new silver cross surf has come out to buy now and i want to secure that straight away but i know it would be silly and unwise.

Its annoying me and i have a holiday coming up in disneyworld 1st sept so should be focusing on spends for that but my insatiable appetite to buy the whole of mothercare is too much!!

im only 20 yet i feel like push me to one side and go baby crazy!!

what can i do to stem the urge!! also i have my blood test on 20th sept to check for downs and spina bifida is there anything to worry about in this?

thanks!!

Control yourself girl! Just kidding! Grin

I can't wait to go baby shopping although it's different for me as it's my 2nd and we have almost everything we need.

Re: blood test, I'm pretty sure you will be fine! It's just like a usual blood test where they take the blood from your arm. As you're only 20 you're very likely to be very low risk for down syndrome. The test doesn't give a diagnosis of whether your baby has Down Syndrome or Spina Biffida it just gives you a risk factor. If it comes back high risk they will offer you Amnio or similar test, if it's low risk then they'll probably just leave it.

Oh yes it is so exciting going round mothercare. I have toured and gazed and planned but not committed.

First 4 times I lost baby and after the very first (where I was given some baby clothes that caused me to cry everytime I found them in the various hiding places or contemplated giving them to friends who were pregnant) I never got another baby thing again. Now at 20 weeks I have all the plans in place, but won't be getting any things at all until the last minute.

Of course very few are that unlucky - still: worth a pause for thought.

I didn't buy anything til 30 wks, as I had a miscarriage before which made me too anxious to really start planning anything for a long time. I think it's fine to start earlier if you want to, though. But if you feel it's a bit too early still, I would try lots of window shopping - like qwert says, lots of gazing and planning without committing yet - and also, try to distract yourself with other, more imminent things, like shopping/planning for your holiday next month. You could set yourself a date when you'll allow yourself to start buying, e.g. right after the 20 wk scan (although that probably seems an age away, it'll come quicker than you think!). But don't buy everything too enthusiastically, as you get towards the end people suddenly start offering you stuff and you may find you get a lot of good stuff for free in either handmedowns or pressies... could save a fair bit of cash :)
