I started a "scared of labour" thread last night

Am now 8days overdue

Feeling much better todaythough, despite my wobbles yesterday

You are most definitely not alone Smile

35 weeks and have yet to hit ''the wall' but it'll probably happen.

Seriously, the best thing to do on dark days is go for a walk, even if it's just 10 mins, v v v v v slow, the last thing you feel like doing and you are dragging your arse, it does help!

Not got the the scared of labour stage either, not really got a plan for dd but hanging on to the fact that they all come out one way or another and we are lucky to have people around who could lend a hand if i need them too.

Bubbas will be here soon and yeh we'll be knackered but sleeping will be an awful lot more comfy!

Muchos love xxxxxxx

hi, all I can say is that it will all be alright, honestly it will. it's the waiting and anticipation that does your head in. once it's all happening you just get on with it, it's the thought of it all that's so awful, the reality is actually quite nice - in parts Grin

i was beyond terrified when pregnant with unplanned dc3 and the birth was fine and the first few months were fine, it's over before you know it. just get through those early days the easiest way you can. i did it using lots of cbeebies, sweeties and for some strange reason the hoover attachments whiled away many a fun-filled hour. also balloons and lots of baths for all of you for hours perhaps even several a day. do not feel guilty about any of it, or think that you are getting them into bad habits which will then be impossible to break - you are NOT. 6 months of smarties and zingzillas does not irrepably damage your child. honestly. the important person in all this is you, simply because everything else relies on you being vaugely ok, if this means ready-meals and dressing-gowns and dozing on the sofa this is really really OK .

try to enjoy the odd moment, and know that it's over really quickly. trust yourself and your own instincts - try to relax - they wont remember any of it.

lots and lots of luck

baskingseals · 08/08/2010 13:37

glad you're feeling a bit perkier NNB
hope all goes well - thinking of you

Alicetheinvisible · 08/08/2010 13:40

Hey, join the club!

I am due with dc2 tomorrow fuck!!!!

I can't have another baby yet, it is too soon, i am not ready! There is nowhere for it to even sleep at the moment, DH is working more and more hours, DD has suddenly become grumpy and clingy and i am so constipated it is not funny!

Oh, and i am supposed to be going for a VBAC Confused

Does that help?

yama · 08/08/2010 13:56

38 weeks and when I can't do anything I don't do anything.

Dh realises that late pregnancy is no picnic and takes over. It is definitely not a holiday.

Dd (4) is enjoying extra tv/films.

I am ignoring messy house. Mil will sort that out when I'm in hospital. Wink

Thanks BaskingSeals Smile

Hi porca, I've seen you on some of the "I'm pregnant and need a moan" threads I've been whining on and noticed you're a similar no. of weeks along as me (38).

You're definitely not alone - I've been wobbling for a few weeks now! And the heat really doesn't help . Aren't you somewhere hot too? At least there'll be less laundry (I hope!) Have you tried a cold shower right before bed and a fan directed right on you all night? It's horrible being so hot and not being able to sleep starfish style on your back, isn't it Sad

My house is a mess too, feel far too knackered to give birth, can't be arsed with the idea of a newborn, no idea how the hell I'm supposed to learn to bf and entertain dd at the same time Confused

Sending you a sweaty virtual hug, an ice lolly and a blast of my fan to cool you down - you're not alone and best of luck! Looking forward to reading your birth announcement somewhere on here soon!

I'm scared too! Sad I am a week overdue now, and had got myself to the point that I felt quite 'in control' and ready for labour. Planned on using the birthing pool etc. Then they started talking inductions at the end of the week and that has removed all confidence I have in myself to be able to do it! Now I'm petrified! If I get induced it'll be at the main hospital not the birthing centre, I don't know it, or the midwives...just have to hope she appears before Thurs!

That and the prospect of being a mother...they let us take the baby home on our own and everything!Scary!

petisa · 08/08/2010 22:30

Nope, not me! Smile I think I just recommended a big fan, and a wet towel on top of you too if you're somewhere really hot.

My EDD's 20 August. Soo don't feel ready for it. Glad you had a better day today, pizza helps! Smile I'm feeling better too as dp looked after dd all morning while I stayed in bed and he mopped the floors too, so I'm v happy about that Grin

MrsC, don't fret, you've still got a few days yet! I gave birth to my dd at 10 days overdue, 2 days before I was to be induced and it went fine, no epidural and no stitches, so it can happen! Have a big curry and some energetic sex Grin Good luck!
