Can you make them worse/create more by itching??

Odd question but around my belly button at times i get this awful urge to just scratch and scratch until i could almost cut my skin - luckily for my belly i have acrylic nails on and so theyre too thick to do any real damage but the urge is so hard to resist, i'm just worried it will make stretchmarks bigger or more red by giving in to my urges!

Anyone know through experience?

no my belly use to itch all time, its the skin it gets tight and that makes it get really itchy, mine was always itchy and i havent got any on my belly

Do you moisturise? That should help make them less itchy

i found using oil really helped stop the itching

Yea im trying to keep topping it up, the worst time is usually around 4/5am when i have been sleeping all night, i suddenly wake up and just have to itch the heck out of my belly button! then i curb the urge and reach for the baby lotion lying next to my bed! it normally dies down then, just comes back every 4 or so hours if i dont moisturise, and having a hectic life i tend to forget quite a bit until the itching urge comes back!

It just seems like by itching on the ones already there its making them more red afterwards, maybe this is just me!?

they get worse as you get more into the pregnancy, because there still stretching, i got them on my bum and to the end they were bright red and purple but after you have had the baby they will go down to a silver white colour, mine are not that obvious now.

I doubt you'll make your stretch marks permanently worse by scratching them unless you're breaking the surface of the skin. But obviously they'll look more red if you're scratching a lot. You're definitely doing the right thing by moisturising. The best product for stretch marks, imo, is Phytaoil or Phytalotion.
