Warning - TMI! What to do about stronger smells from nether regions?

I did warn you - TMI! But, I'm finding I need to wash my trousers much more often. I know you're meant to get more discharge when you're pregnant, but is increased smell normal too? Am really conscious of it. Anything I can do? (Fresh underwear everyday of course, and sometimes twice a day). Grateful for any advice!

go get a swab. Increased thrush or BV is common in pregnancy coz of all the hormones changing the flora (and fauna!?) of the vagina.

But also remember you may be more sensitive to smell too...

I found that too comtessa. FWIW it faded at about 6 months but until then I just wore a liner all the time and was extremely paranoid!!

God I thought it was just me. Am soooo glad other ladies have had this too, makes me feel a whole lot better Smile

Panty liners?

I use the washable ones from Wemoon, they are really good for protection, but as they are fabric, they feel no different to your pants. plushpants.co.uk/details/Natural%20Woman/subcat/Wemoon(R)%20Menstrual%20Pads/extra_cat/Menstrual%20Products.html

A don't want to concern you but BV can cause miscarriage - this very sadly happened to a friend of mine at 17 weeks. You should really see the GP and get a swab and antibiotics if you did need them.

34 weeks and yes I smell more!

ledkr · 07/08/2010 13:14

BV is very ditinctive ladies before you panic. It is a very fish like odour very strong and a discharge. It is worse during menstruation which obviously no help to us.My smell is def not fishy i just think i am hotter and sweat more but if anyobne does think it maybe an infection or bv yes i aggree go to Drs asap.

This may be very much TMI, but the other day, when I hadn't washed since the morning before, I would swear my downstairs smelled like babies, you know that really distinctive new baby smell? That was odd.

comtessa · 07/08/2010 16:18

Thanks all for reassurance. I guess it's just one of those lovely parts of pregnancy that no-one mentions to you beforehand! Will try the liners you mentioned Porcelain.
