Hi. I am 6 weeks pregnant and have started to get morning sickness. I never had it at all with the last two pregnancies and I'm not impressed! GrinShock

Luckily it't not too bad, not actually thrown up but feeling decidedly uneasy and have a bit of a queasy tum that can only be settled by eating.

I was just wondering why I have got morning sickness this time, when I didn't last time? Does anyone know if there's likely to be a reason? TIA

are your first two boys? Is this a girl? Its thought to be worse with girls than boys.

YummyMummy1208 · 06/08/2010 14:04

it may mean ur having a baby the opposite sex to the ones u already have - unless ofcourse you have one of each?

Im now expecting a girl, already have a boy and my symptoms were slightly different each time.

hellymelly · 06/08/2010 14:04

Other possibility is twins,as again, morning sickness is usually worse due to higher hormone levels!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/08/2010 14:08

Had morning sickness both times and both boys, first time much more severe but stopped at 13 weeks, this time not quite a violent but lasted much longer!

KirstyJC · 06/08/2010 14:10

Hmm, both others are boys, so I suppose it could mean it's a girl then.

I'm going to pretend not to have read the bit about twins - I only signed up for one!! GrinGrin

There's no way of knowing. Some people have several children of the same gender and had wildly different pregnancies with each. I have been pg 3 times. Twice I had no morning sickness at all. The third time, I was on my knees with it. No discernible reason. I was a different age, it was a different baby. That's about as far as I can reasonably guess.

Same here, not a sign of sickness last time, now at 4 weeks all day for the past 3 days ive felt nausea :-( Had a girl last time.

No sickness in last pregnancy, have hyperemesis in this one (31 weeks now and still sick), both are girls!!!!

This is my third and although I had actual sickness with my others - both girls, this time it is terrible - constant nausea and vomiting everything I eat, I am almost 13 weeks, and its getting worse again I am ignoring the twin theory, I am also 36!!!

KirstyJC · 06/08/2010 20:35

That's interesting jjkm, I haven't heard about the breastfeeding - I am still feeding my 20 month old once or twice a day so there might be something in that. (The oldest is 6yo now but he was finished feeding long before pregnancy number 2 so this wasn't an issue then).

As far as naps go - I work full time so chance would be a fine thing but sadly not!

Today I had major cravings for McD's of all things - goodness only knows what vitamins my body thought it would get from that. Hmm I suspect I needed a protein hit though 'cos I have also had nearly a pint of milk and I never drink that....! No wonder my jeans are getting tight already....!Grin

I had worse morning (actually make that all day) with my DD. It lasted until 24 weeks where as with DS it disappeared at 13 weeks and was fairly shortlived.

I have the same. i have no idea why it's different this time to last. Last time i was working full time, this time I'm not and having afternoon naps with my 2 year old, but have morning sickness all day to the point where i just started crying on the train the other day because i was so fed up of it. I'm not sick, but gagging and retching whenever I'm not eating. Have no idea why, so not answering your question. My friend says if you feel sick and you are sick it's a girl, but if you feel sick but aren't, it's a boy, but I've heard so many different theories I think it's all rubbish now about the sex. I'm just fed up of it. I had an early scan and the sonographer didn't mention twins, so I'm presuming its not. I'm hoping it will go away miraculously at 12 weeks!

KirstyJC · 07/08/2010 20:14

jjkm - I am indeed superwoman!!!GrinGrin. Well actually I only planned to go back part time after number 2 but DH was made redundant so I had no choice. He does work full time now in a really crap job that he hates and is probably about to quit (which I hope he does as it's really affecting him and it's horrible to see)....so I don't think I'll be cutting my hours anytime soon.

I do love my job and like working anyway, but in an ideal world it wouldn't be full time. Still, needs must, eh?
