bad taste in mouth but not metallic - is it just me?!

I've read you can get a metallic taste in your mouth in pregnancy but I've noticed in the past few days I'm getting a horrible....well.....rotting rubbish bin type taste in my mouth. It feels like it's coming from my digestive tract and it sort of tastes/feels like rotting food. It's quite hideous! It has approximately coincided with being able to eat slightly more foods from morning sickness (I'm 11 1/2 weeks and have suffered greatly from nausea but it has improved a bit this past week). The only thing I can think is that, after weeks of eating practically no fruit/veg I've got a taste for fruit juice and have a few glasses a day. Maybe it's that just fermenting/being broken down in my stomach??? (I don't usually drink fruit juice and would normally only have fruit before a meal/on a relatively empty stomach or I get an odd feeling that it's sitting on top of food in my stomach and not digesting well).

Nothing I've tried gets rid of it. I've been sucking mints which help a bit but as soon as I stop I can feel the horrible taste sensation again. ergh.

Am I mad, or has anyone else had anything similar to this? Any ideas on how to get rid of it or how long it'll last? (maybe I should stop the fruit juice, but it's one of my only sources of fruit and veg as I'm still funny about most foods).

angels1 i posted something very similar to you last week, loads of people have had it, and i understand completley what it feels like!! Unfortunately i've had mine since 5 weeks (am 10 weeks now) to even drink water as the fowl taste left me feeling so sick SadOver the last couple of days though it seems to have receded slightly although now just have nausea!!! it seems that most people said it worse after sweet stuff so maybe the fruit juice is aggrevating it, although didn't matter a jot what i ate or drank it was there 24/7 Sad Really feel for you and hope it gets better really soon Smile x

I am getting similar to this, I've no explanation (I'm 21 weeks, I guess I've noticed it for the last 4 weeks) - for me it tastes like old biscuits/mould - really can't explain it!! It comes and goes with me, somedays I don't have it at all - do you get it all the time?

The only thing I could think of (if it isn't just some random pregnancy symptom) is perhaps I have a tooth or mouth infection that isn't causing any pain - I had infected tonsills (sp?) last year and they gave me the most awful taste in my mouth.

I assume if it's pregnancy related though it won't last Smile .... sorry I've no decent advice!

thanks sam. SOrt of vauguely remember reading a post on something like this a while ago but, since I didn't have it then, I didn't really think too much about it. ergh - did people say if it lasted throughout/well into their pregnancy? It's just one thing after another at the minute and I'm feeling so fed up. I'd been housebound for over 7 weeks with nausea and only in the last week have felt a little better...this is just making me depressed now :(

thanks goodluckbear. Mine started a few days ago and have been there at varying severities ever since. Enough to wake me up and make me feel really ill though. the things we have to put up with!
