What happens at the Nuchal blood test?

Do they just take the blood and thats it? I have mine today.

I have some concerns that I'm not pregnant any more and although I have the scan next week, not knowing is really starting to get to me.

Is there anyone I can talk to when the blood test happens? Is there any way they can tell without doing a scan?

I had mine done yesterday. Where I went it was just the blood department so they had no idea about that sort of thing. I understand what you are going through though, as I share your fears. Try and stay positive x

That's a bit strange gigglet when I had mine I was told that that the scan and blood test had to be done on the same day or they were invalid. Had initially been told by midwife to see her between 14 and 16 weeks to take the bloods but sonographer told me to go straight to hospitals pathology dept.

Had my 12 week scan and was then given the form to take to have the blood taken, just took a number and waited so they people taking blood are taking it from everyone for everything.

Sorry you are worried, I hated those early days. Was convinced as this baby wasn't planned something would go wrong but he was fine at scan is I'm now just over 36 weeks and he reminds me all day that he's just fine!

Ive had my blood taken 2 weeks before so that they can provide full results at the scan.

Sorry but they'll just take bloods and send them off - they won't be able to tell you if you are still preganant until the scan. For info I had mine bloods done at ten weeks and scan 12 weeks - bloods need to be done between 10-13 weeks I think.

Please try not to worry - I am sure your baby is fine. What makes you think you are not pregnant? If it is any reassurance I had very few symptoms in the first 12 weeks - am 39 weeks now :-)

I had my 2nd midwife appointment a few days ago, im 17wks and not had any blood taken until then, and was told it was too late for that particular test, but ive had my 12 week scan and a 4d gender one and everything seems fine, but bloody annoying that shes saying to me, oh i cant find your blood results, ill have to ring the hospital, i felt like saying ffs read my notes, nobody has bothered to take blood yet
