Armpit pain?!

Long shot I know, but does anyone know what could be causing armpit pain? It's only in one, I've had it since yesterday morning, it's tender to the touch and hurts if I lift my arm up.

I know you can't blame EVERYTHIING on pregnancy, but just thought I'd see if anyone had expereince of it, there might be a link, maybe to the hormones or whatever.

I'm 16+3. Will pop to the docs if still bad tomorrow but any info in the meantime would be much appreciated.

It's probably glandular. I tend to get that when I'm run-down, but had glandular fever when I was younger so it is a weak spot for me.

If it is because you're run down, then you can definitly blame it on pregnancy!

Would get it checked out at the docs if you're worried or if it lasts for long.

Do you have little spots in your armpit?

A few days after having having DS I had blocked sweat glands, sounds nice, in my armpit.
They were really painful could hardly lift my arms or lie on my side.

I had to change my deodorant as it was causing this. and of course I was a bit run down afterwards.
Try some vits and new deodorant.

Could also be a cyst type thing from an ingrowing hair. Sometimes they can require anti b's.

Also have you looked under your armpit, is there any spots or rash, it is possible to get dry sking even thrush under your arm.

Thanks all,

There's nothing visible, no spots or lumps, it's the whole area that's tender / painful so am thinking Jenko could be glandular. Run-down sounds about right, I am absolutely knackered! Despite eating well and popping pregnancy multi-vits.

Thanks again

Hi NewbieT.

I had what sounds like the same thing in early pg this time - around 8-12 weeks on and off. It was quite sore so I sympathise - and it came and went a few times. I didn't get it checked (though maybe I should've!) and it went away at about 12 weeks. I couldn't see anything mostly but at one point got a small raised bit like a gnat bite which stayed for a day or so... I thought it might be glandular. Also I had to change my deodorant because my armpits just felt more sensitive...

If you go and get it checked, I'd be really interested to know what it is!!!

Hope it clears up soon

I had one, it was sore as hell! Was panicking because it was lumpy and painfu, but it's gone again. I'm assuming it was a blocked sweat gland. Nice!

toomuchteaching · 05/08/2010 11:43

I've got it now! I'm 18+1 and it's the second time. I'm pretty sure it's glands, there's not a lump (although there has been on other occasions before pregnancy) but it is a certain place that hurts, and only when I press it. It cleared up last time so am assuming it will again, and that it's because I'm soooooo knackered. Hope we get better soon!

Aah, thanks for the feedback and sympathising ladies!

I'm all about the paranoia getting things checked out thoroughly, so will probably pop along to the docs tomorrow, will let you know.

Thanks!

Let us know how you get on.

Hope you feel better soon!

Don't know if its the same, but thought I would share my experience incase it helps.
I have sore underarms and have had for about 2 months. I am 23 weeks now and my GP has decided to scan them just to be on the safe side but he is pretty sure that it is just the tail end of the breast that goes right up under your arms. So its like the general swelling you get in your breasts in pregnancy but just right into the underarm.
At least thats what I hope!! I will wait to find out in the next few weeks. Not nice though.
