What kind of blankets are baby blankets? [confused]

I'm trying to organise all the bits and pieces I need for when the baby comes and I bought some cellular blankets on the advice of dm. But I was just looking at some lists for hospital bags and they say you need a "baby blanket" but the matching picture is very different to what I have. So do I need a new type of blanket as well? Or will the cellular ones do?

Also, I have 4 of them to cover crib, pram etc, will that be enough? What's everyone else got?

Thanks!

Yes cellular blankets is what I had, and four is enough. I did have other blankets (wolly ones) which were given to me, but never used them.

no, it doesn;t matter what kind you have

by baby blanket they just mean small blankets to fit a crib/pram/moses basket etc etc

Cellular should be fine. You can buy all different types, but tbh, i find cellulars the best, especially as six month old DS3 likes to sleep with one over his face

TBH i must have about 12 of them - i find they come in really handy - a couple in his crib, a couple for the pram, one for when he's in his bouncer, one for his carseat... and i like to have clean ones ready so when i want to wash them i can replace them straight away.

You might want to consider laying baby on a muslin square on the blanket otherwise you'll be changing the blanket every five minutes when baby dribbles/throws up on it.

Cellular blankets are fine and are good for swaddling as well! I have this one here as well as its a bit thicker

Ok, great, thanks for that. I'll stick with my cellulars.

I've got about 20 muslin squares, but I'm beginning to think the more of those I have the less I'll have to wash everything else!

Thanks everyone

Ooh, that one's lovely Maclaren! Know what to say next time someone asks for a gift idea!
