Mucus slightly tinged with brown at 7weeks pg - normal?

PussinJimmyChoos · 03/08/2010 18:22

Am 7 weeks today. Have had no colour whatsoever in this pg so far, not even implantation bleeding

However, just went to the loo and had mucus vv slightly tinged with brown

I wiped again but nothing. I very carefully put a little bit of tissue about half a cm in to see if any more colour and nothing

Is this normal? Waiting for a call back from Dr now just to see what is what

I had this at about 7.5 weeks. It was literally in the morning when I woke up and, despite constant knicker checking for days afterwards, it didn't come back.

Called the midwife and, whilst not "normal" as such, it's extremely common and generally nothing to worry about. They told me not to be concerned unless it turned into proper bleeding.

Hi PiJC
I had this at 7 weeks, and had an early internal scan where they saw a heartbeat. Am now 26 + 1. I think the only way they can know for certain whether everything is ok is to do a scan, so I imagine they will offer you this. Really hope everything is ok for you - apparently it is quite common at this stage, but I think they'll need to check it out.

sotough · 03/08/2010 18:52

hi, i suspect your Dr won't take this very seriously. if they're nice they'll offer you a scan but from what you've said its just a trace of blood, nothing more, so you'll most likely to be told that everything is 'probably' okay and to wait and see what happens. it's a bit of a shock when you see it, i know, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. for what it's worth i had a fair bit of blood around 7.5 weeks with my pregnancy. DS is now three.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 03/08/2010 18:55

Could be an implantation bleed. If there's no pain and the bleeding has stopped then try not to worry, the fact that it's brown means it's old blood.

PussinJimmyChoos · 03/08/2010 19:02

Implantation - at 7weeks - I thought it would have already implanted by now

Am rather freaked out...should I rest up or carry on as normal?

It's old blood as it's brown. It could be from the implantation or it could just be a amall bruise on the placenta, this happens very frequently. All should be fine as long as there's no red bleeding and no pain. It's up to you whether you rest or not, if something's going to happen then you can't do anything about it

PussinJimmyChoos · 03/08/2010 19:14

Dr rang back...he said he wants to check it to be on the safe side so having early scan tomorrow

Am shitting myself

Try not to worry, really. I've seen them do alot of scans on women that have had a bleed, it happens alot. Your doctor just wants to check that it's all OK.

booreeve · 03/08/2010 19:51

Had this too, actually over 2 days at around 6 weeks, and it was nothing......try not to worry

Aitch · 03/08/2010 19:53

lovely of him to get you a scan, puss. don't panic, it's probably just old blood coming down. the only time i had that brown blood was when everything was absolutely fine, i had different symptoms with my ectopics (if that's one of the things that might be freaking you out).

PussinJimmyChoos · 03/08/2010 21:45

Thanks everyone. Not too concerned about ectopic as think I would be in a lot of pain by now

It was just a shock as have (tmi) been dry as a bone since pg and to suddenly have mucus and tinged with brown was a bit eek! Reminded me of way things are prior to a period which is why I freaked out so much

Gawd, this pg lark is not relaxing is it

OP posts:
zippy539 · 03/08/2010 21:49

Nope it's not relaxing .

I had the same thing - but in bigger quantities and it was explained after the scan as implantation bleeding. Only had it with DC1 and it scared the shit out of me.

Good that the scan is early tomorrow and all the best.

PussinJimmyChoos · 03/08/2010 21:53

Thing is, I had implantation with DS and it occured on about day 32 of the cycle...I am actually 7 weeks today (although ovulated late so may actually be 6 -6.5wks) so how can it be implantation - thought was imbedded and signalling to the body now - hence positive preg test etc...

One thing I'm just wondering...owing to possibly ovulating late...would we even expect to see a heartbeat on scan tomorrow...don't want to be worrying my arse off for nothing..

Also, will they do ultrasound or TVS? Would prefer a TVS as think they can see more??

tvs in all likelihood. congrats, btw, hope tomorrow is enjoyable. wear nice pants.

wubblybubbly · 03/08/2010 22:42

Puss, a similar sort of thing happened to me, though it went on for a few days and the blood looked more red - very worrying I know.

GP arranged an early scan at 8 weeks, everything was just as it should be so I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine, but it's great news you're getting the scan to help reassure you. Good luck tomorrow.

miamix · 04/08/2010 09:12

Let us know how you get on today.

I had the same at around this time over one evening and one day. I had been gallivanting a bit so I took it easy for a while.

You should be able to see the heartbeat at 7 weeks with TVS.

Hope all goes well.

PussinJimmyChoos · 04/08/2010 10:51

All ok - thanks to God

Only just 6 weeks which I expected as ovulated late but they saw a heartbeat! We saw it too - flickering away

Am now a soggy emotional heap and resting at home to be on safe side!

lovely

PussinJimmyChoos · 04/08/2010 11:14

Aitch I thought of you while I was taking my pants off....not in that way obv, but they were nice pants

Although the effect was somewhat ruined by having a pad in them but I explained and they said used to it as women wearing them when experiencing show etc

Was weird after...was all lubed up after dildo cam and so was wiping all the gel off with DH passing me the tissue like some bizarre post sex clean up

Brilliant news.

KaraTrace · 04/08/2010 11:47

Hi Puss - so pleased to see that they saw a heartbeat and that everything is ok. x

Aitch · 05/08/2010 11:50

just to return the compliment, puss, i thought of you today when i was putting my pants on.

PussinJimmyChoos · 05/08/2010 17:41

Were they nice pants....I expect nothing less than Chanel undies if someone is thinking of me

MassiveBumperlicious · 05/08/2010 20:22

Great news puss, I had the same thing at around the same time. They couldn't explain it at the time, but just a warning I then had a similar experience at 20 odd weeks, so they had a look and diagnosed cervical erosion. All fine, but just so you know that might be what has caused it.
