help
I'm due end march 2011 and am a bridesmaid for my friend in december
I'm usually a 10-12 and the dresses are long maxis in semi stretchy fabric, so quite helpful for accomodating a bump
im not telling everyone for a while, only 7 weeks now, so wondered what size dress you might think i'll need....I have to order dress now and they only haave 12's in stock - was hoping to get a 14-16?
any advice gratefully received!
thanks

i would tell your friend and the shop lady to be totally honest

your friend is going to wonder why you are ordering such a huge dress, and i think it would be wise to let her know that one of her bridesmaids is going to be quite pregnant on the big day!

and the shop lady will have had this before and know how generous they are and what size to order

I think TIY has it right - you need to let your friend and the shop lady know so that you can come up with a plan between you.

Bear in mind as well that a size 14-16 will be broader across the shoulders and back. Depending on the fabric and style it may fit in the sense that you can put it on but look absolutely awful over a 5/6 month bump. Or it might be fine. I'd at least let your friend know there's a risk it might not fit well.

I'd see if its possible to delay ordering your dress (or have an option to change it) for a few weeks until you've at least got past the first scan, but start talking about other options if the shop lady thinks that style won't be suitable.

thanks ladies - all very helpful and sensible - i didnt excplain fully (i'm loosing my marbles at the moment!!)

My friend lives abroad and is back in 3 weeks when im going to tell her (know she'll be happy so not worried about that fortunately) - however the frocks are from a mail order place - very, and are selling out fast, she wants us to buy them now so she can see them on us when shes back...

think i'll try to get a 16 with the plan to get a seamstress to re jig it all...

thanks ladies xxx
