Palpitations and anxiety attacks in pregnancy?

I'm 19 weeks pregnant and have been getting increasingly more stressed over the past few weeks. Now I'm getting heart palpitations and massive anxiety attacks but I can't work out why. This is my first baby and it is very much wanted (we have been trying to conceive for 4 years and have gone through a lot of fertility testing etc.). I just don't understand why I feel this way. Has anyone else had this? x

Hi Kirsty

I had similar in my last pregnancy, have you seen the GP? I went to mine and they did an ECG to rule out anything wrong with my heart and that helped to put my mind at rest.

I think it's also important to remember that pregnancy is a time of great stress and worry and sometimes this can be massively magnified by your raging pregnancy hormones!

I also tried a bit of hypnobirthing to help me relax.

Hi, i suffer from them also and they are horrible and very scarey.

The palpitations react to your stress level so its like a visious circle, the more you stress the worse they become.

Also the lovely pregnancy hormones have a huge part of it unfortunetly not to mention the normal anxiety that goes with every pregnancy.

i thankfully have medication for it now as it was taking over my life and made me missareble but i know how horrible it is.

maybe see your gp and see of they can help

good luck.
