I'm 32 weeks and had this without thinking twice Only later did I realize it contains strong liquors.

Your thoughts please? Is this bad for the baby?

I do have a unit or 2 of red wine every second week or so. This week has been more social because of a wedding and various celebrations. I feel so stupid now.

Don't be ridiculous. Hope you enjoyed it! Of course it's fine!

MmeRedWhiteandBlueberry · 01/08/2010 19:06

Eh? Strong liquor. How much exactly. What do you think it is going to do to your baby?

kittyonthebeam · 01/08/2010 19:30

Cassis sorbet= espresso cup full. Maybe 200ml

Gateau = one slice (small)

oh, forgot half a bellini with real peach mash...hmmm..

I only have 8 weeks to go. I am so dying to have a stinking bishop and stilton with a glass of port.

I think I am going mad.

I don't know. I suppose it would intoxicate my baby? Sorry, maybe I'm just being daft.

You will have had a teeny tiny amount.

Everything will be fine.

Please dont worry about this!

Chill, and stop being slightly mad.

(and prepare to be giggled out - hopefully in a 'sisterly' way - by some posters here.)

Notyummy, thanks

I need a bit of a comforting pat on the back and a slight silly woman shaking head gesture. I think the further I am along the worse it gets, tbh...

The guidelines which say that you shouldn't drink anything in pregnancy were written by patronising government types who think that women aren't clever enough to realise what "moderation" means and that pregnant women will be going out and getting drunk every night if they say that any drinking in pregnancy is safe.

So relax a bit and enjoy your treats!

buttonmoon78 · 02/08/2010 05:20

You are indeed being daft - but that's part and parcel of being pg! If the sorbet had an expresso cupful in it it wouldn't have frozen properly. There'll have been much less than that it. Though I'm assuming you had a normal portion!!!

You'll be fine. As NickiandAlex said - moderation is the key. Enjoy.

CHILLLL!

organiccarrotcake · 02/08/2010 11:13

Seriously? Are you mad? You ate Black Forest Gateau? Don't you realise how 70s that is? Your baby will seriously be affected by your lack of understanding of culinary fashion

coraltoes · 02/08/2010 11:38

omg I am now really craving Black Forest Gateau! darn you woman

OkieCokie · 02/08/2010 15:16

Oh dear o dear. It could have at least been Tiramisu laced with Baileys. I don't suppose you had a risotto made with white wine to start did you?

kittyonthebeam · 02/08/2010 16:23

organic, thanks I nearly wet myself laughing...

button, the whole portion of cassis sorbet came in an espresso cup. max 200ml

Thanks for taking the piss out of me girls. I think I'm in serious need of some laughs.
