It's way too early for a baby bump...but.....

I'm only 6wks pg(ish) and seem to have many of the usual symptoms (except morning sickness, thank god!!!). It's obviously going to be some time until I start to show at all but if I'm lying on my back and I give my lower abdomen a prod, I can feel a hard bump. Thought I was being paranoid so got hubby to feel too and he found it too.

Can't really feel it when I'm stood up, but it is enough to feel uncomfortable if I lie on my stomach.

Anyone know what it is????

My guess is wind. Your baby is currently the size of a pea.

I don't have wind, thank god. I was guessing it was moved ligaments or something

it's probably your Uterus?

LetsHaveAnotherOne · 01/08/2010 12:08

It's your uterus. It grows to accomodate your baby. Yes the baby is only tiny right now, but there's a placenta and anointic sac too.

Possibly water retention. I also felt like a had a huge bump in my early weeks because I had any belly at all, wheras it probably wasn't much huger than being a bit PMT bloated then eating a large meal.

How do you know you dont have wind? I was had wind after surgery, but was convinced something had gone horribly wrong with the op, cos it was so painful and hard, but was not like any wind I've ever experienced before....
Could be constipated? And you dont always know you're constipated either!

trust me - its wind. general abdominal bloating, which is mostly wind. there is literally no way that your uterus/baby is big enough to stick out at this stage. When I was seven weeks along my tummy stuck right out - it was bloating and wind.

Applemuncher · 02/08/2010 06:48

I know it's not wind because I've been an IBS sufferer for most of my adult life, it's not constipation either - this is the first time I've been regular .

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a sticky out tum yet - when I can feel the little lump (barely lime sized), I'm lying on my back and having a good old prod. I''m way below the pelvis line.

...I'm just one of these people who likes to know everything.

Your baby is the size of a pea at your stage of pregnancy. If you can seriously feel a hard lump in your stomach which prevents you from lying on your front at this stage, you should go to the doctor - it cannot possibly be your baby.

EccentricaGallumbits · 02/08/2010 11:35

uterus is still tucked behing your pubic bone at 6 weeks. more likely to be bladder if you need a wee or constipation.

coraltoes · 02/08/2010 11:48

well your uterus will be pressing on your bladder by this stage so maybe just that?
