Is losing weight in first trimester normal?

I've lost 6lbs - I put on with my other two and the guidance says you are supposed to put on 5lbs.

I have not been dieting and morning sickness not bad. Have given up alcohol and I was over weight to start with.

Anybody else lost weight up to week 12?

Oh yes I did both times. Was about 7lb less than my normal 'fighting weight' by about 13 weeks. Not much sickness either, healthy babies, it's a mystery to me

It was a while ago now so exact figures are hazy but a lost almost a stone in the first three months.

I did put weight on from then on. I ended up about a stone heavier than my pre pregnancy weight by the time I gave birth.

I lost a stone and a half by the time I left hospital too. It's I shame I'm now half a stone heavier than the day I went into labour five years later .

I lost at least 7lb during the first 12 weeks and only started to gain in the last 12 weeks.
Two days after I gave birth I was a stone and 1/2 lighter than I had been in years. This was entirely (I think ) due to the lack of alcohol and related snacking/late night eating! I craved healthy food too- went off anything 'fatty', a lot of meat and stodgy stuff (which I normally love). I was also overweight to start with which I think has a lot to do with it. Good luck with number 3!

I was overweight with DS and drank a bit too much booze, within 6 weeks I'd lost half a stone. Only started to put weight on at about 14 weeks. DS was 7lb 10oz perfectly healthy.

Sadly i went on to gain 2 stone, but that's because I lived on pizza and magnums

With DS1 I gained in the first trimester, but I was quite slim then.

With DS2 I lost weight in the first trimester, but was 2 stone heavier that time around.

I would say it is normal

Losing weight in the first trimester is normal, as is staying the same, and even gaining a few lbs.

If you find it difficult to eat because of MS or just a loss of appetite, then you will probably lose weight - especially if you have cut out a lot of alcohol.

The baby is tiny, so you are not doing any harm.

Within two weeks, week 7-9 I've lost 6lb. I really cannot explain it - I've not really been able to eat proper food, but when I can manage anything it's been mostly junk. They didn't seem that bothered.

I'm 15+6 weeks pregnant and it's been a very bumpy ride.
I'm 'glad' to see I'm not the only one who is concerned about losing weight.
I have lost 12lbs so far and it's really noticable even though I have a huge bump for my dates and my breasts have ballooned .
I'm guessing it's down to me knocking booze on the head and having the appetite of a bird because of my pregnancy complications.
I never thought I'd say this but I do hope I do put a bit of weight on as I'm getting fed up of people commenting on how skinny my face is!!

I lost about 5 pounds in the first trimester - put it down to not drinking and to eating better. Totally normal.
