Crazy shape-shifing bump!

I'm 32 weeks and now have a sizeable bump. Last M/W check-up (about 10 days ago) she said that she thought he was head down-ish on the left side with his spine curving across the top of my bump so his bum is on the top right.

I'm quite short, so there may not be much space for him to stretch out vertically! Quite often I notice that I'm sticking out more on the right hand side (possibly baby doing leg stretches..?)

Anyway, in the last few days baby seems to have taken to dramatically changing position a few times a day. For example, when I woke up this morning my entire bump had moved over to the right hand side (seriously - it looked freakish!!) and it was quite uncomfortable. I knelt on all fours for a while and it seemed to sort itself out. I had a little nap after lunch and it did the same thing again! I pottered around the house for a bit and now it's evened out again.

I'm just wondering what on earth he's doing in there! Has anyone else experienced such big movements?

I don't have another appt until I'm nearly 36 weeks, which might be a bit late to find out that the baby has moved into a stupid position... I'm thinking perhaps I should make an earlier one just to check that everything's in order (and try to get him to move back if not!)

Sounds like he is shifting his bottom! Sounds fine tbh.

I was pregnant in hot summer of 2006 and used to sit out in the back garden for 15/20 mins to get my vitamin d. Would pull up t shirt to expose bump and whole bumb would shift! Midwife said that late on they can sense light and she was probably moving away it.

Am 30 weeks and mine moves around constantly, I can't work out which bits of her are where but she goes from side to side and top to bottom, sits on my bladder whenever she fancies and sometimes makes my whole belly vibrate violently! Very strange

I don't think you've got anything to worry about. I am 38 weeks exactly and my LO has always moved alot and he also made my bump do very strange things and it looked odd. Think it must be pretty tight in there so they stretch you n wways you never thought possible

Haha, thanks ladies

He seems to have calmed down a bit today so maybe he's now found a more comfy position to rest in We'll see if he stays there!

I'm 37 weeks and sometimes I think the baby is in there with a tool set or something - like Hevster I get the weirdest vibrations. And I can't work out a pattern or where the baby is and this morning my belly was completely lopsided!

Mine moves his bottom while I am watching, it is very, very odd to see it sticking out and sliding from one side to the other. He also sticks his feet out sideways, sometimes I can get ahold of one.

yeah mine is like that! I@m 37 weeks now and my bump does some proper freaky shapes baby is head down and bum is up on the right by my ribs, and on the left round about my belly button is what seems to be a tangle of arms and legs - which is contstantly on the move - and sometimes it tries to stretch and the whole bump does so wide! it's really funny.

cardamomginger · 02/08/2010 10:01

Yeah, mine's doing that as well (32 weeks). It's all very odd . MW says that once the head is down, they pretty much stay like that - as the head is the heaviest part they'd have to REALLY fight against gravity in not very much room at all to flip into breech or some other unhelpful position.
