Hi

my friend has really bad stomach cramps on the side of her sotmach (if that makes sense) and started spotting last night.

I cant tell her if this is normal or not as this never happened to me.

The cramps have been ongoing for about a week. I have adivsed her to call nhs 24 as our local hospital is worse than useless.

Is this common? What would your advice be?

any feeback would be really helpful as i am terribly worried about her. She has polycystic ovarian syndrome and finds it very hard to concieve.

Hi I too had cramps (felt like period pain really) for several weeks in my first trimester. I worried what this was and my GP referrred me to the early pregannacy unit at my hopsital (EPA) to rule out eptopic.

Luckily for us it was ruled out, and at 6 weeks we were able to be reassured and see a heartbeat.

Sadly that's not the case for everyone I know. Better to know asap as the first trimester can be a worrying time.

I think if in doubt check it out asap.
