Cheese Fondue

Does anyone know if it's okay to eat cheese fondue whilst pregnant?

I know that emmental and gruyere are both okay as the risk of listeria in these cheeses is very low, but wasn't sure if alcohol used in cooking is okay.

I've had cravings for fondue all week, but have been avoiding as I wasn't sure if it is on the "banned list".

Go for it ! The swiss eat it all the time even when pregnant!

The fondue is cooked, so the alcohol is burnt off anyway.

I had a cheese fondue at the weekend, for my birthday party, and it was SO yummy scrummy!

Fondue is definitely ok when pg, but if it's still hot in Uk I wouldn't recommend it. It is absolutely a cold-weather winter dish designed to keep you going whilest crossing the alps. While I adore it & could eat it for breakfast, I don't know any Swiss person who would eat it in warm weather. Still, if you do go for it, be careful what you drink. Kirsch or wine is what's recommended as it helps break up the cheese. As you're pg you probably won't want this, but beer and even water are really bad accompaniments - just sets the cheese to a heavy bloaty ball in your tummy which takes forever to digest. The only non-alcoholic drink I've been recommended is tea, and sparingly.
