Just prepare yourself for the "when are you having another" nonsense. Mine is a short sharp laugh and "I don't think so". Usually shuts them up.

I will admit that I am responsible for the 3rd phrase in tehre quite a bit, but I assure you it is as part of my work although I am a bit nosy too

I try and answer in a way which sounds supportive no matter what they say, but otherwise there is very little a shop worker in my line of retail can say

misdee · 30/07/2010 20:50

i think i will find out and not tell anyone lol.

differentID · 30/07/2010 20:53

would you be able to do it though? you have a pretty big family. all it takes is one slip of the tongue?

misdee · 30/07/2010 20:58

i managed to not tell everyone in m,y family i was pregnant till i was almost 14 weeks lol. will be 22+ weeks when i have my scan, so might be able to manage it.

I'm already bracing myself for this (but the opposite as i have 2 DSs) when/if i get pg again.

No I don't mind what sex it is.

No I'm not trying for a girl.

No I won't find out (though DH wants to!).

No I won't keep trying for a girl, i will keep trying to have babies as long as we both want them/can afford them/are healthy enough/etc.

grrr!

DancingOnMyBladder · 30/07/2010 22:15

We've managed to keep the sex of Dc3 a secret!

We have two Ds's and this one is a girl but dispite being sick of the questions, I like being the only ones in on the secret.

Only 5 weeks to go!

DetectivePotato · 31/07/2010 12:13

I hate this too!!

I'm pregnant with DC2. I have a DS. I don't really care if I have another DS. I don't need to have 1 of each. However MIL told me the other day "oh if its a boy you'll have to try for a girl" (Yes because we can choose that). When I said I wasn't bothered, I then got a big speech about "oh yes you don't want 3 children, god what a pain" blah blah blah.

Actually if I do choose to have a 3rd child, it won't be a pain at all!

notnowbernard · 31/07/2010 12:16

Check this out:

Got this the other day from a random person I'd never met before. Had both dds with me. Am nearly 40w

Discussing shape of my bump - "It looks like a girl bump to me, unfortunately"

I was lost for words. Glad the dds didn't hear her

KEAWYED · 31/07/2010 12:21

I have 3DS and only found out the sex on the 3rd.
I couldnt believe peoples reactions.
I was told "so sorry for you" "you can always try again"
When we have number 4 I wont find out the sex as I'm staggered by peoples reactions.
I would be happy with either sex but a boy would be more practical and cheaper for us.

vmcd28 · 31/07/2010 16:34

we know we're having a second son, and only my mum knows, cos she was keen to know too.
I wont be telling anyone else till he's born cos it's none of their business

essexgirl31 · 31/07/2010 16:40

I have 2 DS. I got this through my 2nd pregancy - massive assumption that I would want a DD.

I now get 'are you going to try for a girl?' Drives me mad. I don't want anymore and if I did I would not care.

DinahRod · 31/07/2010 16:47

Tell them you got pg again because you "like giving birth, it's like one big orgasm" - and then watch them try to frame a response
