I was diagnosed with GD during my last pregnancy, and was on insulin.

If i were to get pregnant again, would i have GD again?

From what I understand it is very very likely, but not 100% certain. In fact in my area they don't bother with a GTT in subsequent pregnancies and you are treated as diabetic from a positive pregnancy test. I have been testing my blood sugars and following a GD diet from 5 weeks this time. I noticed I couldn't cope with refined sugar right from day one, but didn't start reacting to starchy carbs until about 15 weeks (was diagnosed at 28 weeks in my first pregnancy)

Hi
As ChocolateCalculator says it is very likely - they consider it almost inevitable if you had to use insulin in your previous pregnancy. I had insulin dependent GD in first pregnancy which was not diagnosed until about 26 weeks. This time from my very first GP appointment to register the pregnancy I have been under consultant care and already have had my first GTT test. This time I really feel better as there is a very clear care plan for me where as last time it was a bit of a whirlwind!

Oh brilliant, thank you both - another thing to consider if we decide to try again!

Not necessarily though. The 1st 2 pregnancies I had it, but the diet and lifestyle changes I made I am convinced helped me stay clear the 3rd time. Fingers crossed 4th time lucky!
