Hi,

Just had a phone call to say my gtt result was 7.9, the cut off is 7.8. I am waiting for another phone call now for a hospital app for next week.

Just wondered if anyone had a slightly over result like mine and what the out come was and what happens next?

I am 28 weeks today if that makes any diffrence.

Thanks

Sorry don't have personal experience a friend of mine had a high result (not sure the actual figure) and she is managing her glucose levels with diet alone. She is being induced at 38 weeks but otherwise pregnancy is normal. Hope someone comes along who's more clued up soon.

When I had my DD I got a borderline result at about 28 weeks. I was monitored and had to do the food diary and 3 times a day finger pricking which soon showed me what I could and couldn't eat.

I had a couple of extra scans but it was fairly easy to control my sugars through sensible diet so the consultant discharged me from his care at 37 weeks. No inducing at 38 weeks, no drips just natural birth.

As a double check DD was given a bottle close after birth even though I fed her myself to ensure her blood sugars were good, and she had bloods taken from her heal 3 times in total every 6 hours, again to check no ill effects. Then I ate a massive box of Thorntons Continentals over the next week and they did never taste so good!

As you're so borderline at 28 weeks I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you just have the extra monitoring and a few weeks of a less exciting diet, which is worth it in the end.

I'm 14weeks with no 2 at the moment and keeping my fingers crossed that I get to go on my hols to Italy in 2 weeks before the GD strikes back. Consultants appoint next week.

Thanks for the replies. Slimyak, this is my 4th dc, never had the test with the 1st 3 so don't know if I had it then or not. I am already having a scan next week and then one at 32 weeks, due to having a late mc last year.

How long did you have to stay in hospital after the birth? I was hoping for a 2 hour discharge like last time, but not looking likley is it if they need to keep an eye on baby. I already have an consultant app in September to talk about possibly being induced, as they want me in hospital for the birth this time ( had retained placenta last year), and I am lucky to have very quick labours.

I have not eaten any sweet stuff this whole pregnancy as gone off it, will just have to see what else to avoid.

Forgot to ask, those that have had GD before, did it make you feel ill? A few times a day I will get really hot and feel awful and have to lie down till it passes. Just wondered if the 2 were connected.

Thanks again for the replies.
