SPD questions?

Hi all, Just been out having a walk around town and noticed some real discomfort in my groin area right at the tops of my legs. Am 14 weeks on saturday and wondered what are the sypmtoms of SPD and how early can it start? I have had a slipped disc problem until recently. I had treatment last july which seems to have 'cured' it but have been left with some painful inflammation around the area. Will this make me more susceptoble to SPD?

Not sure about the disc issue - I got lots of valuable info from The Pelvic Parnership

SPD is pain right at the front of your pelvis where the SP joint is. Sacro-iliac pain is counted as Pelvic Girdle Pain, as so sometimes are hip pain & SPD.

It's possible you built up myofascial restrictions & trigger points (knots/restrictions in the muscle covering) with the back issue - they are a common response to trauma, injury, operations, stress, etc. If so, that might cause you issues with your hips.

Can i ask a question? ive got terrible pain where my legs join my pelvis, but at the back around the height of my coxix, kinda behind my bum cheeks, nowhere near my front or groin. If i sit semi-reclined or sweep the floor it kills me and i can hardly walk. Is this SPD? Im 14+4, had it since around week 9 and its definitely getting worse.

My SPD started out as feeling like I had been repeatedly kicked in the crotch overnight. It almost felt more like a soft tissue injury and I was quite tender around the nether regions. Then it went into the back too (my physio said it's like breaking a polo mint, if one joint goes wibbly, another will go as well).

La Raggazza - that is, like japhrimel said, PGP. However it could be caused by the same thing as SPD and treated with it, just like my back went after my SP. On the other hand it could be sciatica, I would talk to your midwife about it.

I know I always harp on about this when SPD is mentioned, but a chiropractor worked wonders for mine, it's not cheap and I went as a last resort, but he took me from barely walking, to back to just groin ache in 2 weeks, at 8 months pregnant.

Thanks, yes reading up a bit more, it does sound like PGP, i thought it was just another pregnancy symptom i had to put up with but i will definitely ask my doctor or midwife now, my mum mentioned sciatica and my SIL had it during pg but i thought that was more down your leg. Thank you again.
