Hello to u all! Im hoping somebody has some advice as Im really scared. Im 31 weeks and this morning on my way to the tube station I got pain on the bottom (right hand side) of my bump. The pain was so strong that it made me stop walking a few times. Baby has been kicking fine and the pain has kind of gone away. Does anybody have any idea of what this might be? ive had this pain before but not as strong as today. Help!

Could it be Braxton Hicks? Did your bump tighten as well?

peppapighastakenovermylife · 29/07/2010 11:38

Was it a ligament type stretched pain? Or a crampy pain?

Is it your first baby?

japhrimel · 29/07/2010 11:54

Ligaments or pulled muscles are quite likely.

Those ligament pains totally took my breath away whenever I stood up all the way through my pregnancy. If you're worried though, ask the midwife next time

it's my 1stbaby and my bump didnt feel thight. Didnt feel like period pain at all, more like stiching pain. Any ideas?

I get that a lot! Had it with last pg too. Was ridiculously painful. And is nothing more sinister that round ligament pain. Just stretching I'm afraid.
Hurts like a bugger though.

I get the stitch type pain as well and I am 25 weeks. I had it very badly last week and had to lie down just to relieve the pain. It felt exactly like a stitch under my bump.....it went away so I didn't worry about it too much but it was very painful.

That kind of stitch pain is round ligament pain. They stretch as your uterus does, I get if I suddenly become active- like if I have to quickly walk somewhere after being sitting down for a while. I just find that stopping for a bit helps it and I often get braxton hicks at the same time but I am 35 weeks now.

Thank you so much for all your replies. I have one more question: if it's stretch ligament pain shouldnt i feel it on both sides of my bump? I only feel it where the appendix is.

I only get it on my right side and I have read that it's often only one side, can't remember which of the baby websites that was though, I use babycentre a lot though.

ive read recently thats its often more painful on the right. Ive been getting it quite a bit since last week Im 27+5 and it has made me cry out during the night when trying to get up to go to the loo. Take it easy getting up from standing or lying down obviously the ligaments are even more stretched in these positions not very nice
