Hi,

I have shingles brought on by stress apparently. So went to docs yesterday to check it out. Got told to take some tablets afetr they checked they were safe to take during pg. Buuuut.... I tried to look up on t'internet about possible damage to the baby (Im only 6 +5) if you get shingles early on, but have found conflicting reports.

My GP said that shingles is harmless at this stage, but Im not sure whether she is right or not. Anyone know anything about this, am feeling really worried today

Thanks x

shingles is a stress reaction when you've had chicken pox

do not worry about your foetus

I had it when pg with dd2 (now 10 and perfectly healthy). I spent a w/e in a total flap as dr couldn't tell me if it was dangerous or not and needed to speak to consultant about it. Answer: fine, no problem at all.

So please - don't stress. Give your body a chance to recover. Take your tablets. Eat plenty of good food to pick yourself up after being run down.

I've had it 4 times now so I obviously don't take my own advice but I categorically assure you that your baby will be fine.

Oh, and congratulations!

Thank you sooo much, I shouldn't surf scary webpages late at night, lol. It was just tricky cos some stuff online seems to be so conflicting (and damming). Now I can get on with my day thanks again. Now wheres my bag of green leaves and oranges
