+protein in urine - should I be concerned?

32+2 with DC3 and at yesterdays mw appointment she found +protein in my urine.

I know protein could be a sign of pre-eclampsia, but I'm not really showing any other signs of that, so could it be anything else?

BP was actually on the low side - 90/50 which was surprising considering I had DDs with me and they decided to behave like they were possessed! No real swelling, just enough for me to notice my shoes and rings are slightly tight - what I would call 'normal' for late pregnancy. But I have been having headaches and seeing flashing spots but I am quite anaemic at the moment and both the GP and hospital have said these are signs of that.

I've got to take another urine sample down to the GPs today so they can send it to the lab, and then wait for the mw to ring me with the results which won't be until next week she said.

Should I be concerned?

I would be "aware" rather than "concerned". I had severe PE in my twin pregnancy and had to have them at 33+6. It was only picked up by me starting to look all puffy, turning yellow, and by dipping my own wee sticks (for which I got shouted at by labour ward when I rang to tell them ) My blood pressure was normal, but the protein in urine was reading ++++. They did apologise when I got to hospital, and said the reading was luminescent! Just be really careful, and aware of your symptoms. Can't the GP dip your wee there and then??

I wouldn't worry, just keep it in mind if you seem otherwise unwell. At my last mw check (31 wks) I had +protein and a bp of 90/50 too. Considering my low bp and that I was otherwise well, she seemed unconcerned and I guess will check again at 34 weeks. It can sometimes just be a one off or a contaminated sample.

I had +protein yesterday but no glucose. I am 19+3. It was a registrar appointment and she just said it may be a sign of a mild infection and sent the sample off for testing. She didn't seem unduly worried.
