Hi all

Advice and experience needed!!

I've been having weekly scans for the last few weeks as I had severe pre-eclampsia with my last pregnancy.

Last week I was told my amniotic fluid was low at 2.5 and so been having the baby monitored regularly. Had another scan yesterday and the biggest pocket of fluid they could find was 1.6?
Why is this be happening and what does is mean?
I'm currently 34+3 weeks my consultant now wants me in hospital for the baby to be monitored twice weekly and have weekly doppler an growth scans!?!

Thanks in advance xx

I had this with DS2. They couldnt make their minds up. It started at 30 weeks with me and I was back and forth for the rest of the pregnancy, they told me at 37 weeks he was looking close to 10lbs. They let him stay in until full term presumably because he was growing okay despite low fluids.

He was born by ELCS at 39 weeks weighing a tiny 7lb 1. His skin was a bit leathery because of thelow fluids and head was a funny shape but it wasnt anythign serious and they fixed themselves

I think they will just moniter the growth of the baby.

Not sure why its happening, I felt my waters leak every now and then, but they also said it could be gestational diabetes and I had to do a GTT test. Which messed up because i threw the drink back up right away!

Thanks Julezboo
OH OK I thought babies were big with GD>?

They keep telling me this baby is on the small side, I asked about induction yesterday and consutant said that would only happen if baby stopped growing but then went on to say that the scan nxt Tuesday may show this and I'll have it at 36 weeks anyway!?

Its horrible feels like its going on forever ad no-one knows what, why or when......

Babys are big with GD, they measured my DS at 10lbs on numerous growth scans, my tummy was measuring a few weeks ahead. I was a bit like you, didnt really understand what, why or when but I enjoyed the extra peaks at DS. I was also put on a trace a few times a week on the days i wasnt having growth scans.

DS1 was born at 31 weeks btw and is perfectly fine If your baby comes at 36 weeks he/she will be fine, technically it is only a week early. But they will do all they can to keep baby in until term.

I had low amniotic fluid at around 33/34 weeks, was signed off work to rest and drink fluids etc. By the follow up scan 2 weeks later it had come up a little, back into normal range at least.

Glad to hear that MrsC think mines really low but glad to know it can increase again!
