when did everyone need to start wearing real pg clothes? i am feeling a bit bloated at the moment at 10 weeks, but everything still seems to fit OK, although i seem to remember the last time round it was abouy 14 weeks before I was into maternity clothing proper. Just wondering how long before I have to hurt my credit card!

5 months with both pregnancies.

It was about 5 months with DS1

DS2 I didn't bother, went to the market and Matalan and bought elasticated, couple of size up, clothes and wore those - cost me a fraction of the price and were actually more comfortable.

about 4 or 5 months

hmm - can't do that unfortunately qoq as have to be ultra smart for work (city based). last time round had a nice trouser suit (which is dead), skirt suit (which can be ressurected), dress, coat as well as jeans (also dead), so I am not going to get away without some outlay.

AM hoping that a wrap dress, some jeans, a skirt and some new boots that i can wear again after will keep me going through the winter.

Will wait another month I think and then can have a bit more of a look round as well as putting off the evil moment.

I found that Primark was a great place to buy tops that could double as maternity wear - and they are so cheap that even if you only wear them a few times you can go out and buy some more! I just bought a couple of sizes up. I've found the hardest thing to buy is jeans (nigh on impossible to find a decent pair!) and trousers, but wrap dresses are great. Still can't believe I'm as big as I am now - in those early days I was always 'nah, never gonna need to get those huge trousers!' - oh how I laugh now when I look back!

smiling - I know exactly what you mean. Last weekend i got the bag with all the old stuff out of the attic and was appalled when I held up theone pair of trousers left over - they were HUGE, even though supposedly only a size 12! Have forgotten how much I waddled at the end...wasn't really walking....
AM looking forward tio having this baby, but had forgotten how fat and blobby i felt towards the end of pg 1.....

With my first, I wore a pair of amternity trousers at about 16 weeks, but they were the adjustable kind. I made do with bigger sizes until about 5 months.
I am 11 weeks now and in small maternity tops and trousers already. Waistbands on normal tousers just don't fit and tops don't seemt o be long enough.
