Has anyone bought from Born online?

I was wondering if anyone has bought anything from Born online? There's a Mumsnet 10% discount for first orders which is very tempting. But I'm also mindful of the fact that there seem to be a lot of nightmare online baby companies out there.... Anyone had any experience of this company? Thanks in advance!

I've bought direct from a born shop, put in a large order (pram, cot, car seat, sheets etc) and it took 8 weeks to finally fulfill the order following numerous delays and mix ups with the supplier. They were very poor at following things up and pressing for urgency from the stockists given the ongoing problems. Every time there was an issue and something hadn't been ordered properly, it took the standard 2 weeks on top of however long we had already waited. There was no fast tracking of our order, even though we'd already been waiting for weeks.

We eventually did get everything and got vouchers in compensation for all the delays. My impression was that they are well meaning but not very competent.

This could just be the branch I dealt with however, the on-line ordering might be different.

Thanks for the info! Also thinking of doing a huge shop - pram, car seat, mattress, etc. Am 31 weeks now so that gives them some time to sort it all out . Was it the Stoke Newington or Bristol branch?

Hi Cardamom,

It was the Stoke Newington branch. I think the problems were a combination of Stokke being a bit rubbish at delivering thing (most of the stuff was Stokke and all the problems were with them) and Born not being very good at following things up/pressing for better service. Eventually dealt direct with the manageress and that was much better. I ordered my stuff at 30 weeks and picked up the last item on Saturday - and I'm 39 weeks on Thursday!! But the stuff we got is lovely :-)

Good luck

10% discount is too tempting to not give it a go!! I'd better get a move on with it though .
Good luck!!

They do have some really good offers at the moment! In my opinion, they are a reputable company and you will get your stuff, might just take a while. But hopefully you will have better luck than me :-)

I have found Back in Action to be absolutely brilliant for all the Stokke stuff. 24hr free courier, IIRC.

Sigh! I was thinking about using back in action but thought would rather use the local shop because I thought would get better service.

Will use back in action in future to order any more accessories I need.

Thanks for the tip Betty.
