Very annoying braxton hicks

I'm 30+3 and have started getting some rather annoying braxton hicks in the last week. They seem to come on when I go from sitting to standing or walking and my bump goes so tight it makes me need to wee! They're totally painless. This is pretty annoying what with meetings, commuting etc.

Plus little one seems to think standing up and doing big stretches is a good idea which is just making it worse...

I didn't get the same type of thing in my last pg - any suggestions or wise words??

Change position. BH should go away then. So if you are sitting down, get up and walk around for a bit, or sit on a birth ball and wobble; or if you are standing up, sit down with your feet up and a drink.

Hi Porcelain - thanks for your reply... Actually it's changing position that seems to bring them on - I can be quite happily sitting down, then get up and walk about - which is when I get them... unfortunately work demands and looking after DD don't allow for much sitting down and putting feet up with a drink!!

I have found they got worse with every pregnancy sorry - mine are so bad today I cannot breathe during them and have to pull a weird 'I'm being squeezed to death by a giant boa constrictor' face

OnEdge · 27/07/2010 13:21

Yeah they do seem to get stronger each time. Make me stop and pull the boa constrictor face, people think its kicking off when they see a pregnant woman doing that. I have to hold hand up "I'm fine, just ignore me!"

The best thing to bring huge massive ones on is a good orgasm Try that, it goes like a bowling ball

Mine are much worse this time too.

I had a week off last week and went to my mum's- did no cooking, cleaning or childcare to speak of and they practically stopped.

Back to reality this week and they've come back with a vengeance. Working, looking after a toddler and general trying to keep the house in order just aren't compatible with pregnancy I've decided. I'm not getting knocked up again until we can afford staff.

Oh good! Thanks ladies - I detect a hint of glee that it''s not just you suffering!!!

Also brought on by carrying any shopping weighing more than about 500 grams. I.e ANY shopping.

The sad thing is, despite all the inconvenience of this pg - sickness, misery in the hot weather, a sad pubic bone, these irritating braxton hicks etc etc - I'm already wondering when we might fit in a dc3. it can't be that bad I guess then can it?

I will endeavour to get over it!!!
