Hi, I'm pregnant with number 2 and having just moved to Redbridge I am unfamiliar with the local hospitals. I've been given the choice of Whipp's Cross, King George's or Homerton. Does anybody have any recent experiences of any of them? I have heard of people having bad experiences at Whipp's Cross. I had ds at the Royal London and had an awful time on the postnatal ward there but I am assuming that this is probably the case for all postnatal wards in London. Any advice would be welcome, thanks.

Really? Whereabouts in Redbridge? I am in Newbury Park and i have been told i'm not allowed to go to Whipps (had DS1 there) and i have all my appointments at King Georges but will have to deliver at Queens as am high risk!

HI red,

I had DS1 in Whipps in 2003. It was fine, although a long stay - I went to be induced on Wed & nothing happened so I ended up having a C-section on the Sat & didn't come out till Wed. The staff were all lovely, but I did pay for a private room, which made things better.

I'm now pregnant with DC2 and going back to Whipps again, it's only a 5 minute drive from where I live which makes it incredibly conveinient, for the scans & blood tests as well as the actual birth, but if I lived nearer I would definitely go to the Homerton. We went there for some check ups for DH, and it seems really bright & clean & friendly. Good luck!

(I'm due Jan - maybe we'll end up in beds next to each other?)

Mrs FC, I have been wondering about going to Homerton, the downside would be if I had to go to the hospital for midwives appointments. I imagine that you would have to wait a long time and I don't think that would go down too well with an energetic toddler.
Thanks for telling me about your experience at Whipps, so far I have only heard bad things about it. I'm only in the early stages of pregnancy but I wanted some information before I go to the doctors next week.
