I was just reading on line that at 20 weeks my baby will measure about 16.5 cm but by 21 weeks it will be a wopping 27 cm! then the growth seems to slow again in the following weeks!

Is this true?

How the measurement is done changes at this stage:

"Up until now he has been measured from crown to rump but from this point on the measurement will be from crown to heel ? and this week he is about 27cm long."

At some point in pregnancy they switch from defining the baby's length in terms of the measurement from crown to rump to measuring crown to foot. I can't remember off hand whether this is generally at 21 weeks, but I think it's roughly then. That would explain the massive 10 cm increase! Why they do this - I have no idea.....
