I had my 38 week midwife appointment this morning and the baby is now in a good postion, very low and head fully engaged - does this mean the baby will be coming sooner rather than later or is this just the norm for 38 weeks? This is my first and I'm starting to feel a bit anxious about venturing far from home in case anything starts to happen.

Hate to disappoint but DD (first baby) was also fully engaged by then, and I went to 40+16

In first pg's it's quite normal for baby to engage weeks before EDD. With subsequent pg's engagement tends to happen much closer to the event. Hope you don't have to wait too long, and good luck!

I was fully engaged by 36 weeks with my first. Induced at 40+6. Just very uncomfortable for weeks. Hopefully you won't have too long but I wouldn't expect anything too soon. I did and was disappointed.
