Hoping somebody has had similar experience and can give some words of advice!

Am 33 wks pg with my 4th DC: just got back from being monitored at hospital, as over the last 5 days movements have reduced. This is the 2nd time I have been in with this, last time being at 27 weeks.

Anyway, the trace on the heart was fine, but they have asked me to go back in Saturday and Sunday for another one, to monitor me further. I am due a scan on Monday to check out the placental bloodflow: to check it's all functioning properly. Apparently, if it isn't, fluid levels drop, movements reduce etc.

They are concerned as the movements were nice and strong between 30 and 32 wks, but tailed off, possibly suggesting something is afoot, hence monitoring until the scan. (God only knows why they 'can't do a scan til Monday'?)

Has anyone any knowledge of this kind of thing? I am assuming that if placenta is not functioning properly, there is not a lot they can do, other than deliver early?

Am feeling very anxious and worried about it all: I just hope I am being paranoid and that my 'feeling something is different this time' is proved wrong.

I'm sure everything will be fine, you may find that if they have any concerns that they will keep you in and monitor you from hospital. They really do try to keep the baby in until 37 weeks unless they absolutely can't.
Good luck for scan

just wanted to wish you all the best for today. I will have my fingers crossed that all is ok.

Let us know how you get on

Bethy40 · 26/07/2010 10:20

Good luck for today. Hope all is ok.

Hurrah hurrah!!!!

Thankyou: scan today showed perfick wriggler with lots of hair, great size and perfect placenta. Heavy bugger at that, apparently.

Still no clue as to why movements were so down, but hoping I will have a clear run now til the birth..!

Just to say to anyone with reduced movements: NEVER delay; if your pattern has changed in any way get checked. I was fortunate, and the staff at hospital would rather see you 200 times or more than not at all.

PHEW!
