Are there any signs of premature labour?

I am 27 weeks pg with my third child. For the past couple of days I have been feeling a bit odd - a bit reminiscent of early labour with my first two. They were a week overdue and on due date. I have been having some lower back cramps and contracting type pains in my back passage today (could be braxton hicks - first pg didn't get at all, second only in the last few weeks) and a bit yesterday and feel very faint and nauseous. This afternoon I noticed some nipple leakage. This didn't happen til way, way later with the other two. Do you think this is just a case of everything happening earlier with subsequent pgs?(the SPD etc all kicked in earlier this time) or do you think I should be concerned? Really do feel quite rough but then this pg has been much worse all the way through, physically.

I've bought my 28 week mw appt forward from next week to tommorrow anyway just in case and to get my BP checked as I am feeling really faint all the time.

I had DS at 35 weeks and my 1st signs of labour were bleeding and cramps. So I don't really know if your signs are labour or not!

I would say it's good that you're getting a check tomorrow; in the meantime if you start getting any really bad pain or bleeding or regular contractions, call the hospital and go in!

Hope all turns out ok for you.

Thanks - I too thought there would probably be blood/a show if anything serious going on so I am sure it will be fine - hopefully the mw tomorrow would spot any signs of anything untoward. I probably just have a bug or something. Just wondered if there was anything I should look out for in case.

bump, anyone with any experience think there is anything to worry about? Still getting the barxton hicks I presume contractions but feeling a bit better. Does anyone think they can tell retrospectively that their baby was going to come early (am probably being silly, I know!)

how are u this morning?

can you drop a urine sample in to your midwife/practice nurse to rule out urine infection? It can cause cramps like you describe.

Drink plenty of water today, since dehydration seems to make braxton hicks worse too.

I had an early labour scare at 24wks with a show and braxton hick-like contractions. Was very worrying but thankfully came to nothing.

He was delivered at 37wks.

Thanks guys, I am actually feeling much better today generally, drinking (and eating!) more seems to be helping. I think I am kind of avoiding drinking because it hurts so much on my bladder and I spend all night on the loo. I am still getting the braxton hicks type contractions and the weird pains in the bottom area (v v similar to the after pains I got after 2nd birth) but nothing more. I mentioned to the midwife and she said it may just be that the braxton hicks type stuff is hapenning earlier this time but as all was fine with urine dip test, blood pressure, baby's heart beat etc she said is should be fine, just to go straight down to the hospital if anything actually became really painful.
