Has anyone had GTT and Anti D on the same day?

Hello

I'm pregnant with DC2 and I had gestational diabetes last time. The first GTT I've had in this pregnancy was clear but I have to have another one at 28 weeks. I'm also rhesus negative so I have to have an Anti-D injection at 28 weeks.

The appointments have been booked for the same day and the Anti D injection is supposed to happen in the 2 hour wait for blood tests. I spoke to the midwife to rearrange and she said it's quite common for them to do it this way and that it would be fine.

Quite apart from the fact that there is simply NO WAY that either the midwives who do the GTT or the Anti-D are going to be running on time, I seem to remember feeling pretty dreadful during the GTT and also fairly bad after the Anti-D injection. Has anyone had the 2 at the same time and did they feel ok? Am I misremembering feeling horrible after the anti-D (I know the GTT makes you feel a bit weird)?

When I mentioned this to the midwife she just said 'no no you'll feel fine' but I know the midwives in that hospital will tell you anything to get you to shut up (last pregnancy one of them assured me that the Anti-D isn't a blood product so no need to worry. Er.. yes it is).

Any experiences appreciated.

I had it at the same time and no problems. can't remember the order.

Anti-D never made me feel funny though

Thanks diggingintheribs. Maybe I am remembering wrong! I will probably just do it anyway as it seems to be so much hassle to change it.

thinking about it again I think they only gave me the anti D after the bloods were taken - don't know if it can affect the sample or whether it was just easier for them to do the needles at the same time!

Yes I did, the midwife told me to say at the hosp to take my 28wk bloods and ask if they can also do anti d whilst I was there for GTT.

They did the bloods but wouldn't do anti d as midwife already had my allocated dose so after GTT I ate a bun and had a drink then DH drove me to the doctor where I saw community midwfie and had anti d. So it was probably about half an hour between end of GTT and anti d.

Felt fine- just glad to get it all over with in one day. Anti d has never made me feel funny though and this is my 3rd pregnancy and have had it all 3 times.

Looks like I'm making a fuss about nowt then. It does mean I won't have to take another morning off work I s'pose.

Thanks!
